Weekend Motivation | myVancouver Olga Kotelko: 94-Year-Old World Class Athlete

If you think of rocking chairs and knitting needles when you hear the word "Grandmother," think again. We recently spent some time with world record holder 94-year-old Olga Kotelko on the track of West Vancouver Secondary School. Olga Kotelko is a 94 year old great grandmother who happens to hold 27 world records for track and field in the 90-95 year old category. We catch up with the nonagenarian at her training track in West Vancouver to learn more about her extraordinary athletic ability and why, at age 77, she felt inspired to start running. myVancouver #453.

Duck Walk with Banded Tspine Rotation

This is a great drill to work on hip mobility as well as thoracic mobility. Start in the deep squat position w the band and without dumping into your hips stay active with your knees trying to touch the outside walls bring both hands up to belly button height and fix one hand out in front of you while rotating the other arm and then switch sides and take one duck step forward and repeat. Make sure to stay tall and keep the head in a neutral position.
