46-Tournament Schedule Concludes in August with 3 FedExCup Playoffs Events
Point Vedra Beach, Florida – The PGA TOUR today unveiled a revamped tournament schedule for next season, providing an exciting change for players and fans as they are able to engage in – and better follow – a cadence of events highlighted by significant championships every month and culminating with the FedExCup Playoffs in August.
Highlights from the new 46-tournament schedule:
Decisions by most of the world's elite golfers to skip the PGA Tour's stop in West Virginia have been a boost for younger players like Xander Schauffele.
Schauffele had a one-stroke victory over Robert Streb at The Greenbrier resort last season, which ended with the 24-year-old from San Diego winning the Tour Championship and earning Rookie of the Year honors.
This year, nearly all of the two dozen rookies on the tour are in the field at A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier, which starts Thursday on the Old White TPC in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
Check out the top 10 moments from A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier Classic including Xander Schauffele's first career PGA TOUR victory and Stuart Appleby's historic final-round 59.
From Tony Finau’s perspective, it’s not a matter of it. Just when.
It’s been more than two years since the big-hitting Finau broke through with his first PGA TOUR win, beating Steve Marino in a playoff at the Puerto Rico Open. Given his length off the tee and the continued development of other parts of his game, it seemed only a matter of time until his second win.
This week’s event, a Military Tribute at The Greenbrier, will be his 65th start since that first victory. Finau has 15 top-10 finishes, including a pair of runner-ups this season, but he’s still waiting for that second victory. No need to press the urgency button, though.
