Bryson DeChambeau made his Ryder Cup debut as a Captain's pick in 2018 and now has himself in prime position to make the 2020 USA Team after claiming his first major championship.
DeChambeau moved from sixth to second in the USA Ryder Cup point standings with his win at Winged Foot as he looks to lock down a roster spot for the 2020 Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits Sept. 21-26, 2021.
Though much is being made of DeChambeau's body transformation and overpowering golf courses week in and week out, PGA Coach Joanna Coe believes there is another key part of DeChambeau's game that golfers of all levels could learn from most.

PHOENIX – PGA TOUR Champions announced today that its tournaments in 2020 and 2021 will combine to form one season, and the next Charles Schwab Cup champion will be crowned in November 2021 at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship. The 2020 Charles Schwab Cup Championship will be converted to a regular season event, featuring an expanded field of 81 players and an additional pro-am day scheduled for Thursday, November 5.
Due to the circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic, eight PGA TOUR Champions tournaments have been canceled from the original 27-tournament schedule. A number of other events have been rescheduled to later in the calendar year and a decision on The Senior Open presented by Rolex will be forthcoming.
In an effort to uphold the competitive integrity of the Charles Schwab Cup, PGA TOUR Champions will combine the 2020 and 2021 seasons and form a singular 2020-21 season. In addition, other measures are being taken to offset some of the impact made by the cancellation of tournaments.
In 2020, the field size of tournaments will increase from 78 to 81 players.
In 2020, the three Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs events will be converted into 81-player fields.

The LPGA announced that the 2020 Volvik Founders Cup, originally postponed on March 12 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, will not be held this year. The tournament will return to the LPGA Tour schedule in 2021 at Wildfire Golf Club at JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort and Spa.
“First and foremost, the health and safety of the players and the greater Phoenix community were in our minds as we made this decision,” said Tournament Director Scott Wood. “As the entire LPGA Tour competitive schedule shifted later into the year, it became more difficult to find a suitable date. As we shift our focus to 2021, the tournament staff is already working tirelessly to ensure an incredible week of competition and fun next March.”
Cancellation details will be shared with purchasers via email.
“Over the last five months, the world has been rocked by unprecedented challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As the hosts of one of the leading community-driven sporting events in the world, The Thunderbirds are doing everything in our power to continue to lead community involvement through the Waste Management Phoenix Open and the hundreds of charities that we support.
The health and safety of the PGA TOUR professionals, sponsors, vendors, and, of course, the greatest fans in golf, is of paramount importance. As a result, The Thunderbirds have been working closely with the PGA TOUR, the State of Arizona and the City of Scottsdale in planning for this year’s tournament.
Due to continued health challenges surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the landscape at the Waste Management Phoenix Open will unfortunately look different this year. This week, we notified our suite holders that most of the hospitality venues that create our event’s incredible tournament atmosphere will not be constructed. In light of the fact that we usually start building our venues in late September/early October, it is just not prudent to do so under the current circumstances.

Starting in 2018, there will be no points reset entering the Charles Schwab Cup Championship. Instead, double points will be awarded to the 36 players in the finale.

The core of the corporate culture at Volvik crackles with color. This is a company all about looking on the bright side, first as a pioneer in multi-colored golf balls and, more recently, with the easy-to-follow matte finish. And when Volvik started expanding into the U.S. market, the LPGA seemed like a perfect fit, most recently attaching its name to the Founders Cup.
The ball manufacturer based in South Korea started in business in 1980 but didn’t make a big push into the American market until well into this century, first with the Volvik LPGA Championship in Michigan from 2016 through 2018 and then with the Volvik World Long Drive Championship in 2017.
Now Volvik includes among its endorsement partners LPGA members Chella Choi, Mi Hyang Lee and Pornanong Phatlum and supports the Volvik Race for the Card on the Symetra Tour, the annual chase for the 10 automatic spots for the next LPGA season available to the top Symetra Tour players.
Now there is its partnership with the Founders Cup, the Phoenix stop that honors the 13 women who created the LPGA 70 years ago as well as all those pioneers who help build the tour into the oldest, continuous professional sports league for women. The first edition of that partnership has been pushed back by the Coronavirus but remains a prime thought for Volvik.
“‘The LPGA has always been in our mind,” Don Shin, President of Volvik USA said by phone from Los Angeles on a week when he planned to be in Phoenix.
