The stars aligned at the WM Phoenix Open on Wednesday when Olympians, World Series Champions and Super Bowl MVPs converged on TPC Scottsdale for the 2022 Annexus Pro-Am. Big name celebrities and athletes like Aaron Rodgers, Walker Buehler and Michael Phelps paired with PGA TOUR professionals to put on a truly remarkable show in front of thousands of excited, lively fans. The combined group of PGA TOUR pros K.H. Lee and Keith Mitchell playing with Vikings cornerback Patrick Peterson and others took top honors this year shooting a 17-under-par 54, one shot better than Hideki Matsuyama and Chris Kirk.

Bunker to Bunker Radio Host Greg Ellis was playing in Monday’s Carlisle Pro Am at the Waste Management Phoenix Open and had co-host Jim Hill as his caddy. Greg’s daughter and his granddaughter Ceci were able to walk with him during his round.

When they came up to the iconic stadium #16 hole, par 3, their PGA TOUR Pro partner, James Hahn lined up his birdie putt then stroked it to just barely miss his putt. He then turned to Ceci and invited her to give it a try from the same location. Long putt… and you can see the rest. Tournament Chairman Dr. Michael Golding announced today Scottsdale native and current Arizona State Sun Devil standout golfer Preston Summerhays will receive the first of five available sponsor exemptions for the 2022 WM Phoenix Open Presented by Taylor Morrison, which is scheduled to be played February 7-13 at TPC Scottsdale. Summerhays will compete in “The People’s Open” as an amateur much like fellow Sun Devil Jon Rahm in 2015, where he finished T-5.

“Preston is one of the top amateur golfers and an extremely accomplished player, especially for his young age,” Golding said. “He has put together a remarkable junior and amateur career and has taken on some of golf’s biggest stages, including the U.S. Open. We are excited to see what he can do at ‘The People’s Open’ in 2022.’”

Arizona Cardinals all-time leading receiver Larry Fitzgerald, Golf Channel correspondent Alexandra O’Laughlin, the NFL’s all-time leading rusher Emmitt Smith and actor/comedian Rob Riggle are among the early list of celebrities who will be playing in the Annexus Pro-Am at the WM Phoenix Open Presented by Taylor Morrison on Wednesday, Feb. 9, at TPC Scottsdale’s Stadium Course.

A routine fixture at the Annexus Pro-am, Fitzgerald played 17 seasons in the NFL – all with the Arizona Cardinals. During that time, Fitzgerald was named to 11 Pro Bowls, one First Team All-Pro (2008), twice led the NFL in receptions (2005, 2016), twice led the NFL in receiving touchdowns (2008, 2009), won the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award in 2016 and is currently ranked second all-time in NFL receiving yards with 17,492.
