Wigwam Golf: Courses

For 70 years, exceptional golf has long been a hallmark of the Wigwam experience, earning some of the golf industry’s most prestigious accolades including Golf Magazine’s “Silver Medal Award” and Golf Digest’s “Top Resort Course in Arizona”. It’s no wonder the Wigwam is considered one of the top golf resorts, not only in the Phoenix area, but the entire country as well.

Gold

The Gold, designed by master course architect Robert Trent Jones Sr, opened in 1965 to rival the famed Firestone Country Club’s South Course. Nicknamed Arizona’s Monster, this course is known as one of the longest and best Phoenix Golf Courses to play in the Valley. The Gold course was renovated in 2015, overseen by Tom Lehman, that includes the latest in bunker technology and design and still reaches nearly 7,400 yards in length.

Hosting a variety of events, from the Patriot All-America Invitational to the 2011 U.S. Open Qualifier, the Gold still stands as one of Arizona’s finest courses and is ranked by Golfweek as one of the Best Courses in 2012. In 2016, The Gold Course was the winner of Arizona Foothills Best of Our Valley “Most Challenging Course”.

Patriot

The greatest contradiction, as described by its golfers, the Patriot course creates different challenges from front to backside. Perilous bunkers, thirsty ponds and challenging dog-leg fairways make this 6,000 yard, par-70 course technical and challenging yet subtle for golfers. The course makes up for the lack of distance with numerous large bunkers, raised small greens and dog-leg fairways that makes all golfers challenge their creativity on the course. This course features one of the most popular holes in golf.

Heritage

A natural complement to The Gold and Patriot courses, The Heritage designed by Arizona Hall-of-Fame golf course architect Robert “Red” Lawrence is nearly 6,900 yards and plays alongside an abundance of natural water features and lush trees. This Phoenix area golf course is set among a forest of trees from pine to eucalyptus to challenge all golfers. Most of the holes are designed alongside or over canals, ponds and streams forcing you in hitting that perfect shot. The course features large greens, making it important for you to keep it below the hole.

A look ahead to the upcoming 2024 Masters Tournament!
