Bridgestone Golf Experiences Record Growth in 2017

(COVINGTON, GA) – Bridgestone Golf – innovator of premium golf balls, clubs and accessories – posted the most successful year in company history in 2017, setting records in total sales, advertising reach and number of golf ball units shipped in a calendar year.

The company experienced a significant increase in sales at some of the nation’s largest off-course retailers. This substantial growth is largely attributed to Bridgestone’s continued commitment to innovation across the entirety of its product line, as well as an aggressive marketing campaign. The latter featured appearances from brand ambassador Tiger Woods and encouraged golfers to break away from the herd mentality and switch to the superior Bridgestone golf balls for a competitive edge.

"I attribute a record setting 2017 to our ability to outpace all competitors in terms of technological innovation that helps players of all skill levels find their edge," says Angel Ilagan, President and CEO of Bridgestone Golf. "While some reports of the health of the industry are not always positive, Bridgestone's commitment to producing the best balls on the market have allowed us to grow at record rates."

How To Recognize Golf Potential in Your Child

One of the greatest things about golf is that you can play the game your whole life. Being able to start the game at a young age can be a big advantage.

How many times have you heard adults say, “I wish I would have started at his age”.

Learning the game of golf at a young age is obviously a good thing and learning to play good golf at a young age is even better. The question for many parents is whether their child is just an average player or do they have some potential within the sport. With other sports, such as soccer or baseball, spotting a good player is easy. With golf is can be a bit tougher, especially if the parents aren’t golfers themselves.

Topgolf Positively Impacting Traditional Golf, According to National Golf Foundation Survey

The latest survey found both golfers and non-golfers have an increased interest in traditional golf after playing Topgolf

DALLAS, Jan. 18, 2018 -- Non-golfers are taking a swing at the game and experienced golfers are playing more often after visiting global sports entertainment leader Topgolf®, according to a survey recently conducted for Topgolf by the National Golf Foundation.

The NGF research offered a look at two types of Topgolf guests: those who play traditional on-course golf (golfers) and those who don't (non-golfers). The survey found that, among Topgolf guests, 29 percent of golfers say that playing Topgolf leads them to play more traditional golf. Almost a quarter of golfers, 23 percent, follow the sport more closely as a result of playing Topgolf. More than half of the non-golfers surveyed, 53 percent, say that playing Topgolf has positively influenced their interest in playing traditional golf.

"It's very exciting to have once again verified that Topgolf increases non-golfers' interest in playing golf on a green grass course. Topgolf's success is proof that interest in the traditional game is massive, and Topgolf is an approachable place where golf's 'latent demand' activates that interest," said Greg Nathan, NGF's chief business officer. "The golf industry is incredibly fortunate to have Topgolf and other approachable off-course options as a bridge to help turn non-golfers into passionate golfers."
