Celebrity Field Draws Huge Crowd to Wednesday’s Annexus Pro-Am

Some of the biggest names in sports packed Wednesday’s star-studded Annexus Pro-Am to tee it up with the best PGA TOUR players in the world at the 2018 Waste Management Phoenix Open. No one was surprised to see two-time defending WM Phoenix Open champion Hideki Matsuyama’s group take top honors with a group score of 57. You can view the full Annexus Pro-Am results below.

Thousands of golf fanatics flocked to the famed 16th hole after the Pro-Am to watch the Phoenix Suns Charities Shot at Glory, a closest-to-the-pin contest for a chance at $1 million for charity. Spectators on hand were treated to the sight of professional skydivers bringing the American Flag down from the clouds, as well as the Phoenix Suns dance team and firework displays. Dave Wood, senior VP of OUTFRONT Media, secured first place in the contest when his ball came to rest 14 feet five inches from the center pin location. Jim Pitman came in second only five inches outside of Wood’s shot, and Charles Kelley from Lady Antebellum came in third place, 21 feet seven inches from the hole.

Buckle up, sports fans: Thursday’s first round kicks off tomorrow morning at 7:20 a.m. with the afternoon groupings starting at 11:35 a.m.

Tuesday Highlights and 2018 Annexus Pro-Am Pairings Announced

Tuesday at the 2018 Waste Management Phoenix Open was full of fun activities and exceptional weather for golf. Hundreds of kids took the day off of school to take part in a Q&A session with NFL Legend Larry Fitzgerald and reigning FedExCup Champion Justin Thomas and see a trick-shot golf show at the R.S. Hoyt Jr. Foundation Dream Day. On the other side of the course, celebrities like former Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians and Phoenix Suns great, Tom Chambers, teamed up with Special Olympians for the San Tan Ford Special Olympics Putting Challenge. In-between all the festivities, fans had a chance to see the PGA TOUR’s best play practice rounds throughout the day.

The weather has certainly generated a buzz, and the forecast looks perfect for a great week at TPC Scottsdale. We’ll see you out here tomorrow for Wednesday’s Annexus Pro-Am which features a star-studded lineup of celebrities, athletes and business leaders teeing it up alongside PGA TOUR pros.

Kadima.Ventures Pro-Am Closes Out Day One at the 2018 WM Phoenix Open

The first day of the 2018 Waste Management Phoenix Open Presented by Ak-Chin Indian Community is in the books. Monday’s Kadima.Ventures Pro-Am featured PGA TOUR pros teeing it up with community leaders and VIPs in what could be described as perfect weather for golf. Kevin Tway’s group won the event with a group score of 56. Dominic Bozzelli’s group finished in second place just one shot off the leader’s pace, and Alex Cejka came in third with a respectable 58.

Don’t miss tomorrow’s Tuesday action with the R.S. Hoyt Jr. Family Foundation Dream Day presented by PING beginning at 10:00 a.m. on the TPC Champions Course practice range. Fans on hand for Dream Day can join in on the fun and see a trick-shot golf show, junior golf instruction provided by The First Tee of Phoenix, other games, lunch and motivational speeches from PGA TOUR star Justin Thomas and Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. Also taking place Tuesday is the San Tan Ford Special Olympics Open where Special Olympians, celebrities, sports stars and business leaders from the Valley take part in a friendly competition. The event begins at 11:00 a.m. on TPC Scottsdale’s Stadium Course putting green.

Louis Oosthuizen, Zach Johnson, Webb Simpson Among Latest Commitments to 2018 Waste Management Phoenix Open

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Former Open Championship winner Louis Oosthuizen, two-time Major winner Zach Johnson and 2017 WM Phoenix Open runner up and 2012 U.S. Open Champion Webb Simpson are among the latest players to commit to the 2018 Waste Management Phoenix Open Presented by Ak-Chin Indian Community, set to tee it up January 29-February 4 at TPC Scottsdale. A field of 132 players will vie for the $6.9 million purse, the $1,242,000 first-place check and 500 FedExCup points.

Additionally, former WM Phoenix Open champion Aaron Baddeley (2007) has committed to play.

“The field is beginning to take shape as we get into the weeks leading up to the tournament, and it looks to be one of our strongest ever,” said Tournament Chairman Carlos Sugich.

The 2018 field now includes 19 of the Top-50 players in the Official World Golf Rankings.  Jordan Spieth (2) is the highest-ranked player currently in the field, which features four of the Top-5, six of the Top-10 and 10 of the Top-25 in the OWGR.  Other ranked players in the field include Jon Rahm (3), Justin Thomas (4), Hideki Matsuyama (5), Rickie Fowler (7), Brooks Koepka (8), Alex Noren (19), Francesco Molinari (21), Charley Hoffman (22), Oosthuizen (24), Xander Schauffele (26), Kevin Chappell (32), Si-Woo Kim (37), Phil Mickelson (40), Tony Finau (43), Simpson (44), Steele (45), Russell Henley (46) and Zach Johnson (50).

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – GRAMMY-winning rapper, singer and songwriter Nelly has been added to the final night of the Coors Light Birds Nest, rounding out the star-studded lineup for the popular entertainment venue at the Waste Management Phoenix Open Presented by Ak-Chin Indian Community.

Nelly will headline with Zedd to close out the Coors Light Birds Nest on Saturday, Feb. 3. With the addition of Nelly, the Coors Light Birds Nest lineup is now set. Flo Rida and Kelley James will kick things off on Wednesday, Jan. 31; Florida Georgia Line and Chris Lane (Presented by Ford) take to the stage on Thursday, Feb. 1 (SOLD OUT); OneRepublic and Natty Rico (Presented by Hakkasan Nightclub) will perform on Friday, Feb. 2; while D.J. Vice will open for Zedd and Nelly (Presented by OMNIA Nightclub Las Vegas) on Sat., Feb. 3.
