Bunker to Bunker, December 27, 2003

The Bunker-to-Bunker team was live in studio. DJ and Tiffany had the day off to enjoy the holidays with their families while Greg had Tom Enders, Golf Sales Manager with the Southwest Region Marriott properties, as a guest host. Tom fulfilled the duties very well during this week`s show which covered the best of 2003.

The topics ranged from talking about the tie at this year`s President Cup to the shellacking of the American women at the Solheim Cup. Tom and Greg also discussed the first time major winners of 2003 and, as always, Tiger Woods with his Player of the Year for the 5th straight year, has got to receive a mention in the best of category. The top story was that of the humanitarian efforts that Tom Watson offered for his longtime caddie and friend Bruce Edwards, who is battling Lou Gehrig`s Disease.

Other topics included that of women playing on the PGA Tour. From Annika to Suzy Whaley to Michelle Wie to Se Ri Pak (only one of the previously mentioned to make the cut in a men`s professional tour event) to Laura Davies all crossing over to see how their games stacked up against the men`s games. Greg and Tom agreed that the novelty has worn off of this craze and that it is okay for women to play in the men`s events if they qualify and earn the spot.

E. A. McDonough, with the Phoenix Coyotes, called in to talk about the opening of the new Glendale Arena. If you have not been there for a game or tour, it is a must see. E.A. provided the show with tickets to Monday and Wednesday`s games for the Saturday Soapbox prize package.

Saturday Soapbox, presented by the Arizona Golf Doctors, allowed our listeners the opportunity to call in to share their thoughts. The topic was, "What was the top golf story of 2003?" The phones lit up early and remained that way. For those that did not make it into this week`s Saturday Soapbox, please try again next week to discuss a new topic. Bill Blackford from Peoria won the main prize package, including an Antigua Whisper golf shirt, Ahead golf Cap, a foursome of golf to Wildfire and two tickets to Monday`s Coyotes game, with his compelling thoughts about the Tom Watson-Bruce Edwards story that touched all of us. Tom Boyle from Phoenix won the two tickets to Wednesday`s game with his thoughts on the four first-time winners of the majors in 2003. Congratulations to both winners and thanks to all of you who participated in this topic. Be sure to listen next Saturday to be a part of the Saturday Soapbox.

Greg and Tom wrapped up the Show with a few predictions for 2003. Tom is ready for Phil Mickelson to break through and win a major and Greg feels Tiger will win two majors while Jim Furyk will have a great year and be a player to contend with all season.

Remember, join us for our next, "wasted away again at Bunker to Bunkerville," tournament which will be the ninth event of the tour. This is where we host our Tournament of Champions event at Estrella Mountain Ranch January 17, 2004. There are spots available for the tournament within the tournament that the non-qualifiers will be able to participate in as well. There is still time to sign up to play in the event by clicking on the graphic below.

Remember to tune in for all of the cutting-edge information in golf every Saturday, from 7:00-9:00 on ESPN Radio 860. Greg, DJ and Tiffany will have a lot to talk about.

Bunker to Bunker, December 20, 2003

DJ and Tiffany were live in studio this week for their last show of the year. Greg will be hosting the best of show next week and we are all looking forward to 2004. Tiffany filled all of our listeners in on her week in Puerto Rico with the Golf Channel. She was there to be the television host of an event which pairs up Club Professionals and Club members against other private clubs across the world. This was a three-day event and hosted by the Wyndham El Conquistador Resort and Golden Spa which is a Troon Golf facility.

DJ and Tiffany then recapped Davis Love III`s win at the Target World Championship. Although Davis won the event, Tiger was the story with his come back charge from 10 shots down. DJ pointed out how he feels that 2004 is going to be a BIG year for Tiger and his last round of 2003 was just a preview.

Barney from Nevada Bobs joined the program with his top-10 list of gifts for the golfer in the family. Included in the list were college ball markers and divot tools, collegiate head covers, Nike caps, the new Mojo golf ball and the number one gift was the new Callaway HX Tour ball.

Since we are in the silly season why not do a silly soapbox? This week we asked our listeners to call in with their silliest golf story. Dave`s story about playing in a scramble and getting ready to make a birdie putt. His players helped him line up, he set up and got ready to take the putter back and his playing partners pointed out that he has not put his ball down. Dave mentioned that he was so intent on making the putt that he never even realized that he had not put his ball in play. Dave`s story won him a $25.00 gift certificate to Nevada Bob`s an Antigua Whisper Golf Shirt and an Antigua Hat.

Remember to tune in to the Bunker to Bunker Golf Show every Saturday morning from 7:00-9:00 on ESPN Radio. We all would like to wish you a Happy Holiday season and look forward to a great 2004 in the game of golf.

Bunker to Bunker, December 13, 2003

It was a crazy show for Greg and DJ this week. We were live at Mountain Shadows for the Mountain Shadows Open. This is a great event where a lot of the area local PGA Tour professionals come play. It is a pro-am event that is played on the valley`s most popular executive golf course. The players come back every year for the comradery of the event and to play this great golf course. Travis Rousseau, Director of Golf, joined the program to fill the listeners in on the event. Travis pointed out that the public can come out and watch this event for free and they have NO gallery ropes. Travis also noted that even though this is an executive course, it still challenges the players because of the tough pin placements on all of the par threes. A player who is not hitting his irons well is in for a long day.

After a quick update of last week`s golf, Billy Mayfair came on the program. Billy mentioned that he has been playing in this event for several years and plans on playing in it for a long time. He told us that he was happy that Tiger Woods got the player of the year again this year and mentioned that Vijay`s comments about Annika probably hurt him. Billy also shared his opinion that he thinks it is great that Annika is playing in some tour events, but was quick to comment that he feels that she is the only female who could compete with the PGA Tour players right now. Billy then got into his passion which is football, noting that he was disappointed to see that USC and LSU are not getting the opportunity to play against each other in the BCS. He feels that the NCAA needs to go to a playoff system to truly decide the National Championship.

Next joining the program was Jonathan Kaye. Jonathan is a local PGA professional who won the Buick Classic at Westchester Country Club this year but was unable to play in the Mountain Shadows Open this time. Jonathan agreed with Billy that Tiger was the right choice for player of the year and wanted to point out that even though he did not win a major this year, Tiger had the most impact on the Tour. Jonathan will also be playing against Michelle Wie in Hawaii this year and had a great take by saying, "I wish I was playing against 143 of her." Before letting both of the players go, Jonathan wanted to point out that his grandfather, a valley doctor, delivered Billy Mayfair and was the first person to "spank" Billy. This gave us a great look at the humor that Jonathan is known for on Tour.

Joel Kribel, another valley PGA Tour player, was next on the program. Joel started out by telling us that this was the first year he had played in this event and he was having a blast. Joel said that this course puts a lot of pressure on your short game and it is a great tune up for the season. Joel talked about his disappointing year in 2003 due to a broken hand he suffered early in the year. He is looking forward to getting back out on the PGA Tour in 2004.

Notah Begay came on the program next. Notah has also been playing in this event every year and "marks his calendar" for this tournament. Notah played with valley weatherman Brad Perry, and mentioned that he learned that every good jockey learns to "whip his horse early." Notah talked about how he has created a new workout program that has improved his golf game tremendously. It has helped so much that he is working with the Stanford Golf Team, his alma mater, to perfect and patent this golf workout program. This all came about due to Notah`s back injury that he suffered while lifting weights. He now feels that he knows how to workout properly to avoid injury, stay fit and maximize his golf game.

Remember to tune in to the Bunker to Bunker Golf show every Saturday morning from 7:00-9:00. You never know who you might miss.

Bunker to Bunker, December 6, 2003

DJ and Greg were live at Anthem this week to promote the "Wastin` Away Again in Margaritaville" event on December 14th. Don`t forget to sign up by clicking on the icon below, it will be a great time for everyone. Right out of the gate Brian Anderson of the Golf Channel joined the program to give us an update from Q-School. Brian pointed out how several Texas players were playing well and the windy weather the rest of the week should serve them well. Brian also pointed out how the atmosphere at this event was definitely one of tension and nervousness--just as you would expect with so much on the line.

After a quick update on last week`s golf, Mindy Hospenthal of Ping joined the program to fill our listeners in on all of the new products that will be available in 2004. Mindy pointed out how Ping has started to really focus their efforts on making the best game-improvement clubs on the market. Ping has also focused on creating longer irons that are easier to hit while putting a lot of weight on the sole of the club for the longer irons.

Chris Lamberti, Director of Golf at Anthem Golf & Country Club, joined the program as our judge of the Saturday Morning Soapbox. This is the part of the program where our listeners get to chime in on our selected topics. This week`s topic is, "Now that Annika has proven herself in the Skins Game, do you think we will see her playing in PGA Tour events?" Most of our callers stated that they were comfortable with seeing females play on the PGA Tour as long as they qualify. Tim had the best take though with his comparison of women playing on the PGA with African Americans playing in the Major Leagues several years ago. They both have the talent but people are having a problem accepting that talent. Tim`s take wins him a round of golf at Anthem Golf & Country Club, an Antigua Whisper Golf Shirt and an Ahead Cap

Remember to tune in every week from 7:00-9:00 on ESPN Radio 860 to the Bunker to Bunker golf show, you never know what you might miss.

Bunker to Bunker, November 29, 2003

DJ and Greg were in studio this week while Tiffany took the Holiday weekend off. DJ and Greg were quick to jump on the decision to end the Presidents Cup with a tie. Greg pointed out that golf is a game and is either won or lost....not tied. He stated that he liked the playoff system and that is what differentiates this event from the Ryder Cup. The decision to not continue to the playoff was baffling. Greg and DJ both agreed that they did not like that one player represents both teams during the playoff. A playoff system should be created to involve the entire team.

John McMillian, sales representative for Titleist, joined the program to talk up all of the new product coming out soon from Titleist and Cobra. John mentioned how Cobra clubs are primarily made as a game improvement club and Titleist is geared toward the better players. John also pointed out how last year the "buzz words" in golf were coeffeciency of restitution and this year they are launch angle and spin ratio. Titleist has created a club-fitting system to maximize the launch angle and spin ratio to fit you with a driver that you can hit longer.

DJ and Greg touched on this weekend`s Skins Game. Both hosts agreed that this event has lost its luster. DJ mentioned how the Skins Game used be fun to watch because of all the camaraderie amongst the players. The players that are now playing just don`t have the right personality for the event. Greg pointed out how he did not like Annika playing in the event and would not be surprised if she did not get ONE skin.

Richard Wright, Director of Golf at Club West Golf Club, joined the program to be our Saturday Morning Soapbox judge. The topic this week was, "What do our listeners think about the President`s Cup ending in a tie?" Steve from Scottsdale had the winning take with his suggestion that in an event of a tie, all players should have to draw an opponent and then are shotgunned out on the course for a sudden death match. First hole won is the winner. This would be a very exciting way to come up with a winner. Steve`s take wins him a foursome at Club West Golf Club, an Antigua Whisper Golf Shirt and an Ahead Cap.

Be sure to tune in every Saturday from 7:00-9:00 AM to ESPN 860, you never know what you might miss.

Bunker to Bunker, November 22, 2003

DJ and Tiffany were live at Anthem this week for the President`s Cup. Chris Lamberti, Director Of Golf at Anthem Golf & Country Club , was a guest host this week. After a quick recap of last week, Tiffany and DJ got right into the update of this week`s golf. Obviously, the President`s Cup was a big story with the Americans currently behind in the standings. Tiffany pointed out that Tiger and Phil weren`t helping the team much and that some of the "unknowns" like Fred Funk were doing very well. DJ pointed out how there was a lack of intensity in this event and that it would take several years for it to become more like the Ryder Cup.

Guy Sugden, Revenue Manager for Troon Golf, joined the program to talk about the 2004 Troon Twosome Card. This card enables the holder to golf for 50% off at 13 different valley courses including The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa, Ocotillo Golf Club and Troon North Golf Club. Guy was also gracious enough to donate a card to our next Bunker to Bunker event in December.

Our Saturday Morning Soapbox topic was, "Who was the biggest disappointment this year?" Listeners shared several good takes for players such as Phil Mickelson, Ty Tryon, Mark O`Meara and Tiger Woods. But it was Mike on a mobile who won as he shared his opinion on John Daly as the winner of that dubious distinction. He mentioned that John is not only a failure on the course but also in his personal life. This opinion won Mike a one-night stay at The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa with breakfast, an Antigua Whisper Golf Shirt and an Ahead Cap.

Remember, the Bunker To Bunker Golf Tour will be heading to Anthem Golf & Country Club on December 14th to raise some more money for charity. Just go to bunkergolf.com to sign up. Also tune in every Saturday morning from 7:00-9:00 on ESPN Radio 860, you never know what you might miss.

Bunker to Bunker, November 15, 2003

Tiffany and DJ were live in studio this week as Greg took the weekend off. Tiffany was quick to point out that she won both her bets last weekend with Greg after Purdue`s win and Michigan State`s loss. All bets are double or nothing this week so we will see what happens.

After a quick recap of last week`s golf, Craig Forgash, Head Professional at Camelback Golf Club, came on the program to give our listeners a quick update on the Wastin` Away Again in Bunker to Bunkerville event at Camelback on November 16th. He mentioned that the field was almost full and we are looking at some great weather. If you weren`t able to sign up for the Camelback event, click the link below to sign up for the December 14th event at Anthem Golf & Country Club. Don`t miss out on all the fun and the great prizes.

Donna Butler, PR Director of The Westin Kierland Resort and Spa, joined the program to fill our listeners in on the "Jolly" package that the Westin is offering during the Holiday season. Donna also gave us a few packages to give away on future shows so be sure to stay tuned.

Brad Perry, weatherman from Channel 3, dropped by the program to talk about last week`s media day at the FBR Open and to share his thoughts on the changes to the golf course. Brad also pointed out that the increase in the purse will attract more players and possibly get Tiger to commit this year.

Catalina Navarro, teaching professional at The Westin Kierland Resort and Spa, came by the station to also sit in on the Saturday Soapbox. The topic this week was, "Does the current Q-School work or does it give a golfer the opportunity to qualify for the PGA Tour with just having one miracle week ala Ty Tryon? Catalina and Brad were quick to point out that they believe that they should increase the number of exemptions off the Nationwide Tour and have players earn their card this way. Tiffany and DJ, on the other hand, felt that a combination of more exemptions off the Nationwide Tour combined with a modified Q-School will ultimately improve the rookie class on the PGA Tour. John of Mesa`s strong take on this subject won him a lesson with Catalina Navarro, an Antigua Whisper Golf Shirt and an Ahead Cap.

Be sure to tune in every week to the Bunker to Bunker Golf show on ESPN Radio 860 from 7:00-9:00. You never know what you might miss.

Bunker to Bunker, November 8, 2003

Dj and Greg were live at Camelback today to pre-promote the "Wastin` Away Again in Margaritaville" event on November 16th. Tiffany was not on the program as she was cheering on her Boilermakers at Homecoming this week.

First on the program was Tad Weeks, Director of Golf from Champions Golf Club, host of the Tour Championship. Tad pointed out how much difficulty the players were having this week with the greens. He noted that the tour average for putts is 2.4 putts per round and they are averaging 4.2 this week. He attributed this to the size of the greens and the very difficult pin placements. Tad also mentioned that the straighter hitter will win this week rather than the long ball hitter. This is holding true with guys like Chris Riley and Fred Funk being close to the top of the leader board.

Eric Meyer with Callaway Golf came on the program to tell us about all of the new products they are introducing to the market. The marquee item is their new Fusion driver which combines the C4 driver with the Callaway BB II. This driver has a polycarbonate head with a Titanium face maximizing feel and distance. Callaway has also introduced a new HX Tour ball which boasts the thinnest cover on the market. Both of these items will be available in your local pro shops in January. For more information check out their website.

Craig Folsom, Head Professional at Camelback Golf Club, came on the program to discuss all of the improvements at Camelback. Craig pointed out that they recently put 17 million dollars into the facility with a renovation of the Resort Course and clubhouse. Craig mentioned that both of the courses at Camelback are traditional style layouts vs. the desert landscape that is expected in Arizona.

Bill of Peoria won the Soapbox segment with his take on should a non-gender biased tour be created. Bill expressed his opinion on what purpose would be served by creating this tour and how this goes away from the tradition of the game. Bill felt that each tour should focus on making their specific tour the best it should possibly be by increasing competition. Bill won a foursome of golf to Camelback Golf Club, an Ahead golf hat and an Antigua Whisper golf shirt for his efforts.

Be sure to join us for our next "Wasted away again at Bunker to Bunkerville"tournament. The sixth event of the year will be at Camelback Golf Club on November 16th. There is still time to sign up to play in the event that leads to the season-ending Tournament of Champions event in January. Just click on the graphic below to book your group.

Bunker to Bunker, November 1, 2003

The Bunker-to-Bunker team was live in studio. Tiffany and Greg were on the air this weekend while DJ had the weekend off.

Guests included a call in from Russ Norris of the TPC of Scottsdale to discuss the changes to the Stadium Course and how the changes may affect the scores in the upcoming FBR Open at Phoenix. The event is only eleven weeks away. The Bunker to Bunker team will be in attendance at the Media Day event on November 12th. Russ was also gracious enough to provide the foursome of golf for our Saturday Soapbox.

Also, Sean Ferris called in from the Southwest Section of the PGA. Sean discussed the rolling out of this year`s Southwest Section PGA Golf Pass that is now available at sixty-three of the golf courses across the valley. Courses offer great savings during the week and the opportunity to play on the weekends at a reduced rate as well. Sean provided a Southwest PGA Section Golf Pass for the Saturday Soapbox.

Dan Budzius, the General Manager at Anthem Golf and Country Club, graced the show with his natural radio presence to bring his terrific insights to our listeners. The Bunker to Bunker Tour will be at Anthem for the final event of the regular season on December 14th. Dan gave us an update on the new course, noting we should look for the opening date to be in late January to early February 2004. The current course, Persimmon, is open with a limited number of times available for public play.

Saturday Soapbox is the new segment of the show where we provide the topic and our listeners call in to share their thoughts. The topic was, "Which title is more coveted by the PGA Tour players, the PGA Tour Money winner title or the Player of the Year?" The phones lit up early and remained that way as people waited to share their opinions on this hot topic. For those who did not make it into this week`s Saturday Soapbox, please try again next week to discuss a new topic. Steve Giannini of Goodyear was voted by the Soapbox committee as having the best contribution and won the Saturday Soapbox prize package consisting of a foursome of golf to the TPC at Scottsdale, an Antigua Whisper golf shirt, an Ahead golf cap with our Bunker to Bunker logo, and a Southwest PGA Section Golf Pass. Steve`s comments were that golfers should not be focused on the money but rather on the sport, thus, he felt the Player of the Year title is the more coveted title. Thank you to all who participated in this topic, be sure to listen next show to be a part of the Saturday Soapbox.

Tiffany and Greg wrapped up the Show with Dan on the line by giving their thoughts on which title is more coveted. Tiffany and Dan said the Player of the Year title and Greg said the Money title. That`s what makes the Saturday Soapbox so much fun.

Be sure to join us for our next "Wasted away again at Bunker to Bunkerville" tournament. The sixth event of the year will be at Camelback Golf Club on November 16th. There is still time to sign up to play in the event that leads to the season-ending Tournament of Champions event in January. Just click on the graphic below to book your group.

Greg and DJ were in studio this week. Right out of the gate, Mike Friend, Tournament Coordinator for Ocotillo Golf Club and sponsor of our Saturday Soapbox, joined the program. Mike filled us in on the current course conditions and specials that they have running. Ocotillo is a new Troon Golf property and a favorite golf course of Greg Ellis. Greg and DJ filled the listeners in on the success of the last Bunker Tour event at Granite Falls North. Everyone had a great time while raising money for Toys for Tots. The next event will be at Camelback Golf Club on November 16th.

Marty Monoghan, sales representative for Ahead and Callaway Shoes, came on to fill us in on the new Callaway shoes. Marty explained how the production of the shoes was outsourced but Callaway had input on the styles. The shoes are also being designed mainly for comfort and are already being worn by Charles Howell and Annika Sorenstam on Tour. Marty is also sponsoring our Bunker Tour events by giving away one pair of shoes each event for a raffle prize so be sure not to miss that.

Greg Hoyt, Tournament Coordinator, of the Phoenix Open joined the program. Greg informed us the new title sponsor is now Friedman, Billings Ramsey, Group, Inc. (FBR), and the event is now called the FBR Open at Phoenix. FBR has signed a five-year deal and this new relationship has raised the winner`s purse 120,000.00 over last year. This will put the winner`s check at $36,000, one of the largest on tour. With this being said, it will be interesting to see if Tiger makes his way to Phoenix this year.

The topic for our new segment, The Saturday Soapbox, was, "Who should be the player of the year on the Senior Tour?" During this segment we urge our listeners to call in and share their opinion on the predetermined topic. The listener with the best "take" will win an Antigua Whisper Golf Shirt, an Ahead Cap and a round of golf for four at a great golf valley course. After SEVERAL phone calls, Abe Delgado had a outstanding "take" on why Tom Watson should be the player of the year due to his terrific play and all of the off-course stress he is going through with this caddie. Bunker to Bunker, October 18, 2003

Bunker-to-Bunker was live at Granite Falls for our fifth Wasted Away Again in Bunker to Bunkerville tournament of the year. Tiffany and Greg held down the show while DJ greeted our listeners at registration and at the 15th hole for the Par-three "birdie buy-in."

Guests included a call in from Brian Pierce from Granite Falls North to talk about the golf course and all of its amenities. The course is open to the public and really worth the trip to Sun City. Not only was the golf course great, but the service was excellent. Keep checking the Bunker Tour page for details and to book our next Bunker to Bunker event at Camelback Golf Club "Club Course" in November.

Greg and Tiffany also spoke with Bob Scrivner of Titleist and provider of the NEW Pinnacle Exception golf ball for the tournament. This is the "softest" feeling Pinnacle golf ball ever produced. It feels like the old balata golf ball with the longer than ever Pinnacle length. Pick it up in your local golf shops.

Saturday Soapbox, the new segment of the show, where we provide the topic and you call in to share your thoughts was extremely vocal this week. The topic was, "Sophie Gustafson non-penalties call at last week`s Samsung World Championship" Our callers felt that Sophie got away with something other than the title. Thanks to all of you who participated in this topic. Be sure to listen next week to be a part of the Saturday Soapbox.

A foursome of golf to Granite Falls, our Antigua Whisper Golf Shirt and the Ahead golf cap were this week`s prize package for the “Which Golfer Am I?” trivia contest. The question was, Shaun Micheel and Ben Curtis have not had a top ten finish since winning their major. "Who was the last PGA Tour player to win a major championship golf tournament and not have a top ten finish the rest of the year and in what year?" The correct answer, Lee Janzen, was provided by Rich Graen of Phoenix, a long-time listener and frequent winner of our “Which Golfer Am I?” contest.

Tiffany wrapped up the show with her final statement about the "Sophie" controversy that tried to get Greg to alter his thoughts about the use of T.V. in making rulings on the professional tours. Stay tuned for more excitement. Once again, be sure to join us for our next, "wasted away again at Bunker to Bunkerville,” tournament. Bunker to Bunker, October 11, 2003

Greg, DJ and Tiffany were all together at the Gila River Classic at Whirlwind Golf Club, a Nationwide Tour event. After some quick catching up, the team had Rich Carter, Director of Golf at Whirlwind, join the program to talk about the event. This is the first year that the players have played the Cattails course and the reviews have been great. The players like this layout over the Devil`s Claw course due to it being a bit more challenging. Rich pointed out that the wind has been a big factor during afternoon play. All of the morning golfers on Friday shot a combined 125 under par while the afternoon players combined for 1 under par–an amazing statistic.

Next to join the program was Joe Binsfield from the Boys and Girls Club. Joe discussed how the Boys and Girls Club was responsible for hosting this event and he was happy with the event so far. Joe also reiterated Rich`s comments that the players love the new golf course due to it being more challenging. The players also love being able to stay on property at the Sheraton Wildhorse Pass. Joe informed our listeners that the Nationwide Tour is seriously considering Whirlwind for the Nationwide Tour Championship in 2004.

Brian Anderson and Curt Byrum, both friends of the program, stopped by to say hello to the team. They filled us in on some inside scoop on the Nationwide Tour and told us to watch for Tommy Tolles to win this week. They both stated that Tommy is getting back to his PGA form and has been putting extremely well. They also talked about the possibility of this event being a Tour Championship in 2004.

Greg Carter of Gilbert won the "Which Golfer am I?" trivia question for knowing that 16 of the last 21 Las Vegas Invitationals have been decided by either one stroke or a playoff. Greg won an Antigua Whisper Golf shirt and a round of golf at Whirlwind.

Join us for our next, "Wasted away again at Bunker to Bunkerville" tournament. The fifth event of the year will be at Granite Falls North on October 18th. There is still time to sign up to play in the event that leads to the season-ending Tournament of Champions event in January.

The Bunker-to-Bunker team will broadcast live on Saturday morning at Whirlwind from 7:00 to 9:00 and will provide updates throughout the morning.

Saturday Soapbox, the new segment of the show where we provide the topic and you call in to share your thoughts, was extremely vocal this week. The topic was, "Are you considered a great golfer if you win a major championship on the PGA Tour?" Our callers were mixed on this, however, the consensus was that a combination of your entire playing career and winning a major championship are important for defining the difference between a very good golfer and a great golfer. Thank you to all who participated in this topic and listen next week to be a part of the Saturday Soapbox. This week`s callers received tickets to the Gila River Classic. Scott from Phoenix received a V.I.P. pack for his best explanation of whether the golfer is great or not. Congratulations to all of you that called in.

A foursome of golf to Granite Falls, a V.I.P. ticket pack, along with our Antigua Whisper Golf Shirt and the A-Head golf cap were this week`s prize package for the "Which Golfer Am I?" trivia contest. The question was, "Who was the PGA Tour player that was rumored to be asked to pose in Playgirl Magazine?" The correct answer, provided by Joe Suttell of Scottsdale, was Shaun Micheel.

Tiffany wrapped up the show with a putting tip to assist golfers with a way to "spot" putt. Basically, you will focus on a spot on your line and try to roll the ball over that spot with the correct speed and the ball will get close to or go in the hole every time. See the complete tip at Bunkergolf.com.

Join us for our next, "Wasted away again at Bunker to Bunkerville" tournament. The fifth event of the year will be at Granite Falls North on October 18th. There is still time to sign up to play in the event that leads to the season-ending Tournament of Champions event in January.

Remember to tune in for all of the cutting-edge information in golf every Saturday, from 7:00-9:00 on ESPN Radio 860. Greg, DJ and Tiffany will have a lot to talk about.

Bunker to Bunker, September 27, 2003

Tiffany and DJ were in studio this week and Greg was taking a much needed weekend off. Tiffany filled all of our listeners in on the great Bunker to Bunker event which was held at Wildfire the week prior. Everyone had a great time while raising $1,600 for charity.

Alan Valecourse, Head Professional at Flagstaff Ranch, joined the program to fill our listeners in on Arizona`s newest private club. The club was designed by Jerry Pate and is rumored to rival some of the best courses in the state. The course is a traditional style layout with golf and social memberships going on sale next month.

Michael Rodriguez, Head Golf Professional at La Cantera Golf Club, came on the program to discuss the Valero Texas Open. Mike informed us about the rain they received a few days before the event started which has caused the greens to be much more receptive leading to the low scores. He anticipates that this trend will continue throughout the weekend and expects the final score to break or come close to the all time scoring record on the PGA Tour. Mike explained how this course is generally a par 72 but they converted two of the par 5`s into par 4`s to make the course much more difficult, but to no avail. Mike also mentioned that several past winners are not too far back and he would not be surprised if Loren Roberts, Hal Sutton or Duffy Waldorf don`t make a run before the weekend is over.

Next DJ and Tiffany introduced a new segment called "The Saturday Morning Soapbox". This segment allows our listeners to call in and give their opinion on a selected topic. The topic of the week was who should get the Player of the Year. The phone lines were lit up and our listeners were ready to get on their soapbox. First off, Bill from Peoria came on the program and gave his vote for Jim Furyk. Bill made a good argument on Furyk`s first major and his consistency all season long. Next on the soapbox was Chet making his vote for Vijay Singh. Chet from Glendale made a good argument that Singh is the current money leader and also the hottest player in the fourth quarter. Greg from Goodyear called in and made his argument that we cannot forget about what Davis Love III has done this year. So, there are lots of valid contenders this year and it will apparently go down to the wire.

Jennifer Carlton from Phoenix was the winner of the "Which Golfer Am I?" trivia contest for knowing that the long drive in the Women`s Long Drive Contest was 332 yards. Jennifer wins an Antigua Whisper Golf Shirt, 4 tickets to the Gila River Classic, a Nationwide Event, and a foursome of golf at the Sanctuary Golf Course.

Mike Muraco, co-host of Roc and Wolf`s Arizona Gameday and co-host of The Sunday Morning Happy Hour with Roc and Heavy - D, joined the program to get in Tiffany`s kitchen about the Notre Dame vs. Purdue game. Roc wanted Tiffany to put her money where her mouth is and see if she was willing to take Purdue covering the 10 1/2 point spread for a dozen Pro V 1 X golf balls (55.00 value). Tiffany jumped all over Roc`s offer and we will have to see how this one turns out.

Remember to tune to the Bunker to Bunker Golf show every Saturday morning from 7:00-9:00 on ESPN Radio. You never know what you might miss! And don`t forget to sign up your group for the next great Bunker Golf Tour event at Granite Falls North on October I8th.

Bunker to Bunker, September 20, 2003

Bunker-to-Bunker was live in studio. Tiffany and Greg held down the studio while DJ was visiting Jimmy Buffett in Las Vegas.

Guests included the Head Golf Professional at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and Spa, Todd Liddick, where they hosted play at the 84 Lumber Golf Classic. Hurricane Isabel played through this week and delayed the event causing the players to play 36 holes on Saturday. The weather has cleared and they should finish on Sunday as scheduled.

Former PGA Tour player and now Champions Tour player, Danny Edwards, called in to talk about the new Green Fix putter grip that will revolutionize ball mark repair on greens in the future. He discussed how a properly repaired ball mark, or what was thought to be properly repaired, will take up to TWO MONTHS to heal. Now with the new Green Fix putter grip the ball mark will take only TEN DAYS. This is one of the greatest inventions in the game of golf and every golfer should have this new grip installed on their putter. It actually makes fixing ball marks fun. Go to greenfix.com for more information or insist that your golf professional get involved in the Turf Quality Management (TQM) program today. For more information, you can also call 866-443-4222.

Greg and Tiffany continued the discussion, one that will go to until the end of the season, dealing with who will be the Player of the Year on the PGA Tour. This is the tightest race in a long time. Even though Vijay Singh is the current money leader, Mike Weir is leading in the PGA Player of the year standings.

A foursome of golf to Ahwautukee Lakes along with the Antigua Whisper Golf Shirt were this week`s prizes for the "Which Golfer Am I?" trivia contest. The question was, "This year there have been five PGA Tour players with three or more victories, second only to how many tour players in what year?" The correct answer (with a small hint from Greg) as provided by Steve Manios of Phoenix was six players in 1982.

Greg wrapped up the show with a putting tip to assist golfers with a way to keep their head still while putting. Basically, once you get over the ball and you know the putter is square to your intended target line, focus on a spot on the green about one inch away from where the ball is at rest. This spot is off the toe end of the putter. Keep your eyes focused on that point and trust your stoke toward your line and you will begin making more putts. The complete details of this tip may be found at Bunkergolf.com.

Join us for our next, "Wasted away again at Bunker to Bunkerville" tournament. The fifth event of the year will be at Granite Falls in October. Information will be posted soon at Bunkergolf.com so you can sign up to play in the event that leads to the season-ending Tournament of Champions event in January.

DJ and Greg were live at Wildfire to promote the Wastin` Away Again Bunker Tour event to be held on the Wildfire Faldo Signature Course next weekend. Sign ups are going fast so be sure to register your foursome today at bunkergolf.com. Tiffany is taking a much needed weekend off.

Greg and DJ started off the show by updating the standings in the Solheim Cup. Greg was on his game for this segment since he stayed up till 4:00 in the morning to watch the matches. Although DJ and Greg are pulling hard for the Americans they both agreed that it is an uphill battle to beat the Europeans. Greg also noted how Annika was playing at home and that the Europeans are using the death of one of the Swedish political figures as a rallying point.

Tom Enders, Golf Sales Manager for Marriot Golf, joined the program to discuss next week`s event at Wildfire. Tom filled us in on all of the festivities that are planned for the 21st. He mentioned that Cocomo Joes will be catering the after-event festivities and a good time will surely be had by all. Tom also commented about the impeccable course conditions on the Faldo Signature Course at Wildfire.

E.A. McDonough, Sales Manager for the Phoenix Coyotes, joined the program to discuss their involvement in next week`s Bunker Tour tournament. E.A. let it be known that the Coyotes were going to donate 144 pairs of tickets–a pair for each participant--in next week`s event. These are not just any tickets, they are lower bowl seats in the NEW coyote stadium.

Don Carter of Mesa won our a "Which Golfer Am I?" contest for knowing that eight players over forty years old have won events this year. Don wins a round of golf for four at Wildfire and an Antigua Whisper Golf Shirt.

Also, remember to enter the September email contest to win a foursome of golf at the Phoenician Golf Course.

Bunker to Bunker, September 6, 2003

Bunker-to-Bunker was live in studio. Tiffany and Greg held down the studio while DJ called in from home.

Guests included Fritz Gambetta of the 47 Plus Golf Tour to discuss the tour and how it has come about. This tour is for anyone 47 and older who really wants to condition their game and get it ready for the Champions Tour. Fritz played in several different tours over his career and didn`t really have anywhere to help fine tune his game for the next level, so he started this tour. It is only $130 membership fee and $310 fee per tournament. The great thing about this tour is even if you place last, you are guaranteed a minimum of $100. Winner is guaranteed a minimum of $4,000! For more information, you can go to www.47plusgolftour.com.

Greg and Tiffany recapped this and last week’s golf highlights. Of course, we had to bring in some controversy that will always be a part of golf in the electronic age: A TV viewer calling a ruling on one of the PGA players. Paul Azinger’s caddie, who is a veteran caddie, pulled the flag stick out of the hole on #13 while Fred Funk’s ball was still rolling. A TV viewer saw this and called the PGA Tour to let them know of the violation. Paul Azinger stated that the rule is clearly in black and white and was assessed a two-stroke penalty.

The continuing controversy is should a TV viewer be able to call and let the Tour know of the violation? Greg and Tiffany both do not think it is right for the PGA to assess a penalty for the player just because the TV cameras are on that certain person at the time of the infraction. Golf, in general, is a honest man’s game and has a lot of integrity. PGA professionals call penalties on themselves all the time, they do not need a referee to be looking over their shoulder. It was an honest mistake on the part of Paul Azinger`s caddie. Thus, if neither Paul Azinger nor Fred Funk knew of the violation or even saw it, it should not have been assessed.

DJ, on the other hand, feels very different. Golf is an honest man’s game and any violation, even if the players do not know the rule or didn`t see it, it should be called on the PGA player. The viewers help keep the PGA players honest and this helps keep the integrity of the game. Just because the TV camera was on Paul at that certain moment should not matter. His caddie, who is an extension of him, was in violation of a rule and Paul should get the two stroke penalty.

Question of the day: Should TV viewers be allowed to be a referee in the game of golf?

The Solheim Cup is next week and will be aired on The Golf Channel all week long. It is being held in Sweden which will be a big advantage for the European team. Greg, the non-American, is calling for the Europeans to win, while DJ and Tiffany are rooting on the United States to win. An interesting fact that came up was the absence of the Korean players, No. 3 Grace Park, No. 2 Se Ri Pak , and No. 4 Hee-Won Han.

Should the Solheim Cup turn into a threesome of the United States vs. Europe vs. International? Or, should they start something like the Presidents Cup on the PGA Tour for the LPGA Tour? Tiffany believed they do need to either create a new event or change this one because they are missing out on 8 of the top 15 money winners on the LPGA due merely to birth place, not talent. Twelve of the 23 winners on the LPGA Tour this year are not eligible for the Solheim Cup. John Solheim is not up for change because it will lose the tradition that was started in 1990.

Good luck to both teams! There will be some very tough matches out there! GO USA!

DJ, the Director of Golf at Kierland Golf Club, talked about the special that they have going on from now until the end of September. Two players for $75 Monday through Thursday and after 10:00 A.M. on Friday through Sunday. Tee times can be made 7 days in advance. The owners have done $700,000 in course renovations in the last year and a half. The greens where redone last summer and the bunkers this summer. The course is in excellent condition right now and you really need to come play, especially at the summer special price. You can go to www.bunkergolf.com or call 480-922-9283 to make your tee times.

A foursome of golf to Kierland along with the Antigua Whisper Golf Shirt and Ahead Golf cap were prizes in this week`s “Which Golfer Am I?” trivia contest. The question was, "What does Globe mean in golf terms?" The correct answer, whiff or miss the ball, was provided by first-time winner, Judy Hartman, of Phoenix.

Join us for our next, "Wasted away again at Bunker to Bunkerville tournament.” There is still time to sign up for the Wildfire event on September 21, 2003. Don’t miss this great tournament and a chance to qualify for the season-ending Tournament of Champions in January.

Also, be sure to enter the September email contest to win a foursome of golf at the Phoenician Golf Course.

Remember to tune in for all of the cutting edge information in golf every Saturday, from 7:00-9:00 on ESPN Radio 860. Greg, DJ and Tiffany will have a lot to talk about.

Bunker to Bunker, August 30, 2003

Bunker-to-Bunker was live in studio. Tiffany and Greg held down the studio while DJ enjoyed the holiday weekend.

Guests included, the Director of Golf at the TPC of Boston, James O`Mara, to discuss the conditions for play and how the golf course was received by the players at the inaugural Deustche Bank Championship. This is the first time in five years that the PGA Tour has been in Boston and the players were treated like royalty. The sponsors provided Jimmy Buffet, Red Sox, and Kiss/Aerosmith tickets for the players to enjoy throughout the week.

Two-time PGA Tour victor Kirk Triplett called in to talk about his recent victory at the Reno-Tahoe Open. He discussed how he went in with no high expectations for winning because of his recurring back problems. One exercise Kirk recommended was to do a lot of sit-ups and stretching to strengthen the lower back muscles.

Greg and Tiffany continued the discussion, one that will go to until the end of the season, dealing with who will be the Player of the Year on the PGA Tour. This is the tightest race in a long time. Usually Tiger Woods has the title wrapped up by he end of the PGA Championship.

Rich Carter, the Director of Golf at Whirlwind Golf Club , called in to talk about the Devil`s Claw golf course where the Nationwide Tour`s Gila River Classic will be contested in October. Keep listening to the show to win tickets to the tournament. Also, the Bunker to Bunker Team will be at the Gila River Classic on Saturday of the event.

A foursome of golf to Whirlwind along with the Antigua Whisper Golf Shirt and Ahead Golf cap was this week`s bounty for the "Which Golfer Am I?" trivia contest. The question was, "Who was the last Australian player to win the U.S. Amateur and in what year?" The correct answer, provided by Greg Carter of Mesa, was Walter Travis in 1903.

Tiffany wrapped up the show with the tip of the week, with an exercise to strengthen the abs and lower back area. Use a ten- to twenty-pound dumbbell, extend your arms down, bend at the waist and pull your arms up keeping your shoulders and back straight throughout the rep. 3 reps of 25 once a day will help. The details of this tip will be posted in a week, so keep an eye out for them at Bunkergolf.com.

Join us for our next, "Wasted away again at Bunker to Bunkerville, tournament." The third event of the year will be at the Wildfire Faldo Signature Course on September 21st. There is still time to book the next Bunker Tour event that leads to the season-ending Tournament of Champions event in January.

And don`t forget to submit your entry for the September email contest to win a foursome of golf at The Phoenician Golf Course.

Bunker to Bunker, August 23, 2003

It was back to the studio for Greg, DJ and Tiffany with an initial discussion of the sold out Bunker Tour event at Kierland Golf Club on August 24th. Thanks to all the sponsors for providing prizes and gifts and to all those who booked tee times. If you missed this great event, don`t get closed out of the next great tournament at Wildfire Golf Course.

Next, the Director of Golf at the Reno-Tahoe Open, Gus Jones, joined us for a discussion of the "other tournament" being held this week, along with the World Golf Championship at Firestone. Gus noted that a former UNLV player, Kirk Triplett, was playing well and he expected him to finish strong. Gus had a great thought noting that they might not have the greatest field, but they are going to raise a lot of money for area charities, and that makes it worth it.

David Dinan, Head Pro at Firestone Country Club, filled us in on how the players are extended an invitation to play in this event. He also talked about Ben Curtis who was playing his round and then had to drive 20 minutes to go to his own wedding. David noted the players will not have an easy week at Firestone this week, they`ll find the rough equal to what they experienced at the PGA Championship last week.

Joanne Heller, Tournament Director at the Wachovia LPGA Classic hosted by Betsy King, discussed how Betsy King, a local, started this tournament ten years ago to raise money for area charities. Joanne noted how well Suzy Whaley was playing and that it was great to have her in the field. She also talked about Meg Mallon`s play and expects her to be a tough one to beat this week.

We were joined in the studio by Tom Enders, Sales Manager for Marriott Golf Properties, who talked about the Wastin` Away again Bunker Tour event at Wildfire Golf Club on September 21st. He understands that the bar has been raised and he has his work cut out for him to keep the tradition alive. Tom filled us in on all of the great prizes that they are going to have for their event. He noted that we will be going to Cocomo Joe`s afterwards.

Bill Blackford answered the "Which Golfer an I?" question and won a foursome to Legend Trail Golf Club, an Ahead cap and an Antigua Whisper golf shirt. Bill knew that Tiger Woods was a combined 53 under par in the majors back in 2000.

Bunker to Bunker, August 16, 2003

Well, it was PGA Championship Week and the team headed up to the Anthem Golf & Country Club for our fourth major of the season. After giving a quick recap of last week, Greg and DJ welcomed Dan Budzius, General Manager of Anthem Golf & Country Club, to discuss their new Greg Nash-designed golf course which is opening in 2004. Dan explained how the design on the golf course is much different from their existing golf course and will be a great compliment to the master plan.

Next joining the program was Brian Anderson, commentator for the The Golf Channel. Brian filled us in on his view of the PGA Championship and told us to look out for Chad Campbell. Brian stated that he took the Buy.com Tour by storm a few years ago and expects him to be at the top this week. Brian also told us about his excitement of covering the Boise Open this year. Michelle Wie has accepted a sponsor`s invitation at the Nationwide event and he is excited to see how she does.

Chris Sessler, winner of this week`s Gateway Tour event, joined the program to discuss his victory. Chris` 27 under par was good enough to give him his first victory and even more importantly his biggest pay day of $32,000. His four rounds included three eagles and a double eagle. He stated that he has never felt that good for four days and he had a feeling that this might be his week to win. Chris plans on attending Q-school in the fall.

Greg Barnes won a round of golf for four at Talking Stick Golf Club, an Ahead Golf Cap and an Antigua whisper golf shirt for knowing that Andrew Magee was the last person on the PGA Tour to have a hole in one on a par 4. Andrew Magee made a hole in one on the 17th hole in the Phoenix Open two years ago.

Bunker to Bunker, August 9, 2003

It was yet another great show for the Bunker to Bunker team. Greg was taking a much needed weekend off and Tiffany and DJ were live at The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa to promote the Bunker Tour Event on August 24th.

After a quick recap of last week`s events, DJ and Tiffany were joined by Keith Schneider, Head Professional at Castle Pines, the host of The International. This PGA event uses the modified Stableford scoring system and will throw you a real curve ball if you are not familiar with the scoring system. Keith pointed out how the current leader, Davis Love III, made 3 eagles yesterday. Keith also expected the aggressive play to continue throughout the weekend as players try to catch Davis. Perfect weather conditions are expected and the scoring should be low.

Next, JJ McRay, Marketing Director of Jilly`s American Grill, joined us to talk about his involvement in the next Bunker Tour Event. Jilly`s is sponsoring the Kierland event by providing food after the tournament at the Scottsdale restaurant. JJ also noted that all tournament golfers will be allowed to partake in a two-for-one special on Corona and Rolling Rock. A good time is guaranteed.

Ted Lambert, Head Professional at Tartan Fields, joined us to update us on the Wendy`s Championship. Candie Kung shot a 64 on her birthday to take the early lead. Ted explained that weather has been a major factor the last few weeks since they have not been able to mow the rough. He compared the current course conditions to a major event. Ted also told us how it was very difficult to get a great field due to their event following the Women`s British Open. The travel between the events was the major reason that Annika Sorenstam was not at the event.

Next the program was joined by Bobby Elliot, winner of this week`s Gateway Tour Event hosted at Kierland Golf Club and Desert Highlands. Bobby happily explained what it was like to make $25,000 in one week, the biggest check of his career. Bobby`s front nine of 29 at Kierland and back nine of 30 at Desert Highlands were the catalysts for his win. Bobby talked about the talent on the Gateway Tour and how this competition is preparing him for PGA Tour Qualifying School later this year.

Mike Labauve and Steve Heller joined the program to inform our listeners about a cutting edge golf workout program called Fit 4 Golf. Mike and Steve created this program which combines stretching and weight training to increase strength and flexibility in your golf muscles. Mike talked about how this program has increased distance in several of his tour professionals that he currently works with by increasing their clubhead speed. Steve discussed the intensity of this program and explained several drills which he teaches to increase distance.

Bill Blackford was the winner of the "Which Golfer Am I?" contest by knowing that Matthew Goggin was the last PGA player to have three eagles in one round. For his correct answer Bill gets a round of golf for four at Keirland Golf Club, an Antigua Whisper Golf Shirt and an Ahead Cap.

Bunker to Bunker, August 2, 2003

Greg, DJ and Tiffany were back in studio and had many a good story to tell about the Bunker Tour event held at Estrella Mountain Ranch the week before. Everyone had a great time and we ended up raising over $1,400. for Cystic Fibrosis. Also, remember that the Tour is heading to Kierland Golf Club on August 24th and a good time is guaranteed.

Our first guest was Ken Kellaney, record-setting five-time Arizona Amateur Champion, who filled us in on how it was getting tougher every year to win. Ken talked about all of the local amateur talent and how good the "kids" are. He noted how he was working on his game and looking at qualifying for the Senior Tour. Ken feels privileged to have his name in the record books and doesn`t see anyone matching his feat for a long time.

Our next guest was Rob Riddle, General Manager at Black Creek, host of this week`s Nationwide event. Rob highlighted that this course design was traditional and required the players to think their way around the golf course. He also explained how the weather was having a big impact on the event and play has been delayed several times throughout the week. Charlie Rymer is using David Duval`s caddy in this event and told the press that "It didn`t take as long for him to pull my game down like David`s".....ouch that one hurt a bit!

Bryan Rye, Head Professional at Warwick Hills, joined the program to discuss the Buick Open. A great field was on hand but the weather was the big story. The key to this course according to Bryan was how well it set up for straight ball hitters. He mentioned that length is not a factor and expects a veteran to win because of the mental toughness the course requires. Bryan also told us they had to evacuate the golf course on Friday due to a bad thunderstorm that went through the area.

Frank Carr won a round of golf for four to Dove Valley for knowing that Tom Watson and Bob Charles were the only two players to win a British Open and Sr. British Open at the same course. Frank also wins an Antigua whisper golf shirt and an Ahead Golf Cap.

Bunker to Bunker, July 19,2003

Bunker-to-Bunker was live from Anthem Golf and Country Club for the British Open special show. Tiffany and Greg held down the duties while DJ was at his own golf championship in Texas. DJ is out of the running for Player of the Year by missing his second major championship of the season.

Guests included, the Head Golf Professional at Wykagyl Country Club, Mark Wanser, to discuss the conditions for play at the LPGA`s Sybase Big Apple Classic. Conditions were perfect for Hee Wo Hon to come out victorious.

Former PGA Tour player, now Champions Tour player, D.A. Weibring, joined us to share some great insight about Royal St. Georges and his preparations for the Senior British Open coming up this week. D.A. was able to provide expert analysis about Royal St. Georges, where he finished 8th back in 1985 in the British Open.

Dan Budzius, General Manager and Director of Golf at Anthem Golf and Country Club, joined us to talk about all of the great things going on at Anthem. Look for the second golf course to open January 1, 2004.

A foursome of golf to Club West Golf Club along with the Antigua Whisper Golf Shirt and Ahead Golf cap was this week`s prize for the "Which Golfer Am I?" trivia contest. The question was, "Who was the last PGA Tour player to win at Royal St. Georges and in what year?" The correct answer, provided by Doug Green of Ahwatukee, was Greg Norman in 1993.

Greg wrapped up the show with the tip of the week, "Learn how to hit the knock down shot." The details of this tip may be found in the August issue of Arizona Golfer Newspaper and at Bunkergolf.com.

Remember to tune in for all of the cutting-edge information in golf every Saturday from 7:00-9:00 on ESPN Radio 860. Greg, DJ and Tiffany will have a lot to talk about.

Bunker to Bunker, July 12, 2003

It was a busy day for the Bunker to Bunker crew this week. Greg, DJ and Tiffany were all in studio and many a guest stopped by to say Hello. First off, the team did a quick recap of last week’s action with a highlight of Hillary Lunke`s efforts at the US Women`s Open. DJ was quick to mention that Hillary won the US Open but still had to Monday qualify for the LPGA event in Vancouver. Since the US Open is a USGA event and not an LPGA-sanctioned event this money was not "recognized" yet. As far as the PGA Tour goes, the entire team was in agreement that Tiger was never in a slump and that media personnel, like ourselves, are quick to judge Tiger when he doesn’t win EVERY week.

Steve Munch, Director of Golf at The TPC Michigan, joined the program to talk about the Greater Milwaukee Open which he was hosting this week. Steve discussed with us how it was tough to get a good field when you are the week before the British Open. He also mentioned how their event was going to be moving time slots next year for this very reason. We noted how this event still has a pretty good field and a few players who are going overseas next week are still playing. Steve talked about a few of the changes that have been made on the golf course and the expected weather conditions throughout the weekend.

Pomp Braswell, aspiring tour player, and Brad Perry, valley TV personality, joined the team in studio to talk about Pomp`s two-year golf sponsorship with the Harlem Globetrotters. Pomp and Brad, both minority golfers, talked about how important it is to not only be a good golfer, but a marketable individual. Pomp told us that it was written in his contract that he had to be available to play golf all over the world with Harlem Globetrotter clients if needed. Pomp also discussed his controversial comments to Tiger Woods asking Tiger to use his celebrity status to open the door for more minority golfers such as himself. He did want to clarify, however, that he was, "Not looking for a handout, merely an opportunity to prove himself."

After the Sportscenter break the conversation turned to the C.O.R (coefficiecny of restitution) allegations Tiger has made on the PGA Tour. Tiger is looking for all players to have their equipment tested before every event to assure that the equipment is within USGA specifications. Brad Perry was quick to take Tiger`s side because he felt some of the players are knowingly "cheating.” Brad, a big Tiger fan, stated that the companies and players know that some of their equipment is "hot" and they still use it weekly on the PGA Tour. Pomp, on the other hand, had another take. Pomp felt that it is the responsibility of the company to be within the specifications and the player should not be held responsible. Pomp feels that the testing should happen at the factory and not on the golf course.

Dennis Murray was the winner of this week’s “Which Golfer Am I?” question. Dennis knew that Scott Hoch was the low American last year at the British Open with his eighth place win. Dennis` golf knowledge wins him a Bunker prize pack consisting, an Antigua Whisper Golf shirt, an Ahead cap and a foursome to Orange Tree Golf Resort for his answer.

Remember the team is going to be on the road next week for The Major`s at Anthem. Greg, DJ and Tiffany will be joining Dan Budzius and his crew at Anthem Country Club to discuss what is happening at the British Open and everything else in golf. Also, be sure to sign up for the Bunker Tour Event at Estrella Mountain Ranch on July 26th. A good time is to be had by all. Just click on the graphic below to sign up today! Be sure to Listen from 7:00 to 9:00 every Saturday morning to ESPN Radio 860, you never know what you might miss!

Bunker to Bunker, July 5, 2003

It was yet another great show for the Bunker to Bunker team this weekend. Greg and DJ were live in studio and Tiffany called in from Chicago where she was spending the holiday weekend with her family. After a quick update of last week`s events on all of the tours, the team went right into the controversy that was developing at the Women`s US Open between Michelle Wie and Danielle Ammaccapane. The rumor is that Danielle yelled at Michelle in the scorer`s tent after the round due to her poor etiquette while they were playing. Danielle, a valley resident, was also rumored to have "intentionally bumped or brushed" Michelle on the 14th hole during the round. Tiffany was quick to point out that Michelle is only 13 years old and she is still learning the game. The entire team also agreed that a tad bit of jealousy might have also caused Danielle`s outburst because it is rumored that Michelle was driving it 70 yards past Danielle all week.

JD Mowlds, Director of Golf at Pumpkin Ridge, joined us to talk more about this issue and the great play that we are witnessing at the Women`s US Open. JD highlighted the impeccable course conditions this week and pointed out how he was surprised that the women are playing so aggressively. He mentioned that he has seen several balls bounce on and over the very hard surface of the greens. He also stated that the Sunday pin placements will be on the front of the greens and the ladies will have to land the ball short of the greens to get close.

Stu Smith, Executive Director of Banner Health, joined the program to break the news that the Safeway LPGA event will be moving its home from Moon Valley where it has been hosted for the last 25 years. The new home will be Superstition Mountain located in the East Valley. Stu pointed out how, although this may come as a surprise to some of the valley residents, the move strengthened the sponsor relationship and he assured us that the LPGA will be in the valley for some time to come.

Stan Utley, PGA Tour player and putting "guru," called in to fill our listeners in on the putting controversy that is hitting the PGA Tour. Stan`s technique of letting the putter head naturally open on the backswing and close after impact has caused quite a stir on the PGA Tour and is being used by some of his player/pupils such as Jay Haas, Jeff Sluman, Pat Perez and Jonathan Kaye. Jonathan Kaye pointed out on our show last week that his change was a big part of his win at the Buick Open. Stan noted that most players try to keep the putterhead square to the line and have to "manipulate" the putterhead with their hands to do so. His technique lets the putterhead react naturally to the stroke. Learn more about Stan and his methods at Stan`s Website.

Don Carter won a foursome of golf to Rancho Manana, an Antigua Whisper Golf Shirt and an Ahead golf cap for knowing that Renee Lacoste was the first amateur to win the Women`s US Open, accomplishing this feat in 1967.

Bunker to Bunker, June 28, 2003

If you missed the show this week you missed a good one. The team was back in studio and the show was full of surprises. Tiffany was back from celebrating her 30th in Cabo San Lucas and filled us in on her "escapades". DJ and Greg told us about the successful start to the Bunker Tour at Desert Springs and how they are looking forward to heading to Estrella Mountain Ranch on July 26th for the second Bunker Tour stop of the season.

The Director of Golf of the TPC at Southwind joined us to discuss the FedEx St. Jude Classic event at his facility this week. He was quick to point out that the scores are low because the weather has been very favorable so far but said that things are about to change. He also explained how a lot of tour players are taking this week off due to the two tough weeks of play at the US Open and the extremely trying course conditions at the Buick Open last week. All of us agreed that David Toms is the player to watch this week as he goes up against a very young field. His experience should be a big factor and could be the determining element if he is successful.

Jonathan Kaye, last week’s winner of the Buick Open, joined us live in studio. Jonathan is a friend of the the Bunker to Bunker program and has been on the show several times in the past. He was excited about his first PGA Tour victory and happy to get that "monkey off his back". Jonathon pointed out how he was more excited about the perks of his first win rather than the $900,000 paycheck (we think he is crazy). He explained how he just loved the TPC at Avenel due to all of the history there and the "old" feel of the golf course. The secret to his success is that he has been driving the ball well and keeping it in play.

Bunker to Bunker, June 21, 2003

Well, its official. The Bunker Tour season has officially kicked off. DJ and Greg were live at Desert Springs for the 7:30 shotgun to help celebrate the kick-off event. While DJ and Greg were celebrating the official kick off of the Bunker Tour, Tiffany was in Cabo San Lucas indulging in some adult beverages to celebrate her 30th Birthday. That`s right...the sexiest voice in radio has turned the corner.

Last week’s US Open was a focal point of the show. Greg was quick to point out how the course conditions at Olympia Fields seemed much easier than the usual US Open set ups and that Furyk was the only player to truly take advantage of them. We also focused on how it is amazing that Europeans don`t fare well on the US Open set ups at all.

DJ and Greg also started pondering if Tiger was in a "slump". DJ pointed out that all of the media is talking slump and that Tiger has already won three tournaments this year and the season is only half way done. DJ also pointed out that when Jack Nicklaus was 25 he went 12 straight majors without a win, but added 11 through the duration of his career. Was Jack in a slump?

John Kennedy, Head Professional at Westchester Country Club, joined the program to talk about the Buick Classic. John mentioned that they have been getting a lot of rain in the last three months and have not been able to mow the rough for two weeks. He also stated that a lot of the players are saying that the course conditions are tougher than the Open last week. John mentioned how Joey Sindelar is a local favorite and has the backing of the entire gallery. John also talked about how Tiger never really plays well at Westchester but is having a good week this week.

Jack Larue, Head Professional at Desert Springs and host of the kick off Bunker Event, joined the team to talk about their great facility and hosting our event. Jack highlighted their course conditions and playability of the facility. Jack also filled us in on the other three courses available in the Sun City Grand complex.

Steve Lostimo of Gilbert was the winner of the “Which golfer am I?” question this week. Steve knew that it took Jim Furyk 32 major events before getting his first major. Steve wins a foursome of golf to Desert Springs, an Antigua Whisper Golf Shirt and an Ahead Golf Cap.

The team will be back in studio next week. Be sure to tune in every Saturday from 7:00 am to 9:00 am an listen to Arizona`s number one Golf Show, Bunker to Bunker, on ESPN Radio 860. You never know what you might miss.

Bunker to Bunker, June 7, 2003

It was yet another great show in studio for the Bunker to Bunker team. Greg, DJ and Tiffany did a quick recap of last week highlighting Kenny Perry`s second win in a row and Annika feeling right at home back on top of the LPGA Tour.

Our first guest, Todd Hamilton, is a multi-winner on the Japan Tour. Todd talked about qualifying for the British Open due to his world ranking. He stressed the importance to play well in this event to open up the door to play full time on the PGA Tour. Todd also talked about the challenges of playing on the Japanese Tour....mainly the language barrier. Must be nice to be winning SO much money on one tour that you CAN"T afford to play anywhere else!

Our second guest was noted Author John Feinstein. John is the author of such great books as A Good Walk Spoiled and A Season On The Brink. John shared his thoughts with us on how he felt that Annika would not be able to finish in the top 150 on the PGA Tour if she played in 30 events. He feels that her short game is not good enough. John also discussed his new book, The Majors, a book about playing the US Open at Bethpage, a municipal golf facility.

Cindy Reid, renowned golf instructor from the TPC Sawgrass and author of the new book The Ultimate Guide to Golf For Women, joined us to discuss her book signing on June 9, 2003 at Barnes and Noble Bookstore at Shea Blvd and 90th Street in Phoenix. Cindy filled us in on how important the basics are as the building blocks and single most important thing in the golf swing.

Greg Carter won our “Which golfer am I?” question by knowing that the last time that Freddy Couples finished in the top 10 of the US Open was 1991. Greg wins a round of golf for four to Dove Valley, an Antigua Whisper Golf Shirt and an Ahead Cap.

Be sure to tune in this week as the team takes the show on the road to Anthem Country Club. You can listen in every Saturday Morning on ESPN Radio 860 for 7:00-9:00 A.M.. The Bunker To Bunker Golf Show, the number one Golf Show in Arizona.

Bunker to Bunker, May 31, 2003

Guests this week included Larry Dornisch, the Head Golf Professional at Muirfield Village, who discussed the conditions for play at The Memorial where Kenny Perry won for the second week in a row. Tiger put on a strong finish only to come up short this week. Is Tiger in a SLUMP?

Guest Eric Meyer, the new local Callaway Sales Rep, checked in with the B-to-B team to update the listeners on what’s new with Callaway Golf. The Great Big Bertha 2 is going strong and the Odyssey putters are selling better than any other golf equipment line in the industry.

Cindy Reid, author of Ultimate Golf for Women, joined the team to discuss her new book and the book signing at Barnes and Nobles at Shea and 90th Street in Scottsdale on June 9th beginning at 6:30 P.M. Cindy is the Director of Instruction at the TPC at Sawgrass, home of the PGA Tour. She also shared some interesting insight about how nice an individual Vijay Singh really is.

A foursome of golf to Ocotillo Golf Club along with the Antigua Whisper Golf Shirt and Ahead Golf cap was claimed by the individual with this week’s “Which Golfer Am I?” correct answer. The question was, “What percent of PGA Tour players have graphite irons in their golf bags. The correct answer, provided by Jeff Graen, was 4%.

Greg wrapped up the show with the tip of the week, “Play your round of golf on the practice tee before going to the first tee.” The details of this tip may be found in this month’s issue of Arizona Golfer newspaper. Remember to tune in for all of the cutting edge information in golf every Saturday, from 7:00-9:00 A.M. on ESPN Radio 860. Greg, DJ and Tiffany will have a lot to talk about.

Bunker to Bunker, May 24, 2003

Well, it was Annika, Annika, Annika on this week`s program. Tiffany was quick to share her thoughts on how Annika had a good showing at Colonial and proved Vijay Singh and Nick Price wrong by doing so. The team all agreed this debate is not over and we will hear much more when 13-year-old Michelle Wie plays in an LPGA even later this year. We will see how these players handle playing against a 13-year-old GIRL that can out drive a majority of the field.....could get ugly.

John McMillan, Titleist product representative, came on the program to fill us in on the new Titleist fairway woods. He stated that even though these woods are technologically advanced they have a very traditional look. Keep your eyes open because you will start seeing these woods in your local golf shop this summer.

Brad Perry, Good Morning Arizona co-host, surprised us and came in studio to promote his invitation to the Play With The Pros next week in Reflection Bay and The Falls in Las Vegas. This event gives weekend warriors the chance to qualify and go up against golfing greats Lee Trevino and John Daly. Brad, who has his sights on nothing short of victory, announced that DJ, his caddy when he won with Natalie Gulbis earlier this year, will be back on the bag. DJ, on the other hand, stated that he may have to let Brad carry is own bag on the back nines both days because his butt was dragging after only 6 holes at the LPGA event and this is a 72-hole marathon. Is it O.K. to use a pull cart? This could be interesting.

Travis Turk from Phoenix knew that Tiger placing out of the top ten in the Deutsche Bank last week was only the second time in 34 non-PGA-sanctioned events. His knowledge won Travis a round of golf for four to Marriot Mountain Shadows, an Antigua Whisper golf shirt and an Ahead cap.

Be sure to sign up for the next Bunker Tour tournament to be held at Desert Springs Golf Club Saturday, June 21, 2003. It will be lots of fun and there are great prizes and lunch is included. Get the details here.

Remember to listen to Bunker to Bunker, The Radio Show, the number ONE golf show in Arizona, every Saturday morning from 7:00 to 9:00 on ESPN radio 860.

Bunker to Bunker May 17, 2003

Bunker-to-Bunker was live from Estrella Mountain Ranch Golf Club, site of our 2nd Bunker Tour golf event scheduled in July. Stay tuned for more details on this event and for the 1st event scheduled in June.

DJ was absent with permission. He was attending an executive session in Palm Springs with other top executives from Starwood and Troon Golf. So it was up to Greg and Tiffany to carry the ball. As always the duo started out recapping last week’s activities on the “big” Tours. The most notable happening was Rosey Jones ending the non-American-born drought by winning in North Augusta, South Carolina. Hale “four putt” Irwin beat Tom Watson in a playoff to win in Texas on the Champions Tour and David Toms won in Charlotte, North Carolina, at the inaugural Wachovia Championship.

Guests included, the Director of Golf at the Four Seasons Resort, Paul Earnest, to discuss the conditions for play at the EDS Byron Nelson. Vijay Singh held off Nick Price to win for his 13th time on the PGA Tour. Then Vijay withdrew from the upcoming Colonial where he mentioned he would not compete if paired with Annika Sorenstam. This lit Tiffany’s fire. Greg and Tiffany discussed this with DJ calling in from Palm Springs to moderate. When all was said and done the team agrees that Annika is making history, being the second woman to play in a men’s tour event and that this will be good for golf.

Guest AC Caswell, Oakland Raiders football player, joined the B to B team to talk about the Youth on the Rise golf event presented by Yakity Yak Wireless to be held at the Legacy Golf Resort May 31st. For more information go to www.greatgolfevents.com.

Scott Reid from the Southwest Section PGA then discussed the upcoming AT&T Wireless Arizona Open, June 9-14 at Troon Golf and Country Club. There are Pro-Am spots still available and you can call 480 443-9002 for more information.

Dow Finsterwald Jr. called in to talk about the excitement of Annika playing in the upcoming Colonial and how if the conditions are right, she could do okay. We will all watch closely.

Lon Grundy won a foursome of golf to Legend Trail to go along with the Antigua Whisper Golf Shirt and Ahead Golf cap for answering the “Which Golfer Am I?” trivia question. The question was what European Tour event ended this year and how many years was it contested prior to its demise? Lon knew The Benson and Hedges International Open lasted 33 years.

Greg wrapped up the show with the tip of the week. This was a review of last week’s tip to solidify your fundamentals then focus on your target and not the swing when preparing to hit your golf shot.

Remember to tune in this week for all of the cutting edge information in golf on Saturday from 7:00-9:00 on ESPN Radio 860. Greg, DJ and Tiffany will have a lot to talk about.

Bunker to Bunker May 10, 2003

Things were rowdy at Central and Missouri this morning as the Bunker to Bunker team did yet another show in studio. Greg was in rare form sharing his "opinion" of last week’s LPGA winner Grace Park. Greg seemed to feel that she needed not only a swing coach but a make up artist and "needs to learn how to walk." Of course Tiffany was quick to dispute this statement as she reassured all of us that the LPGA has much worse to offer.

Danny Tatum, co-host of Tee It Up Austin, joined us live from The Hills Country Club where they are hosting the Kinko’s Classic. Danny pointed out the impeccable course conditions and warm weather in Central Texas. Danny also put his reputation on the line and picked the winner to be Tom Watson (what a stretch). Tiffany and Danny had a great discussion about the buzz surrounding Annika playing Colonial in a few weeks. Danny`s take is that Annika will shoot around par, but will that be enough to make the cut? Tiffany also pointed out that half of the prize money that Annika wins at Colonial will be donated to the charity of the LPGA event that week. Magnanimous of her, but, half of nothing equals nothing.

We had two contests this week. Dennis Regan of Phoenix was able to list the three players this week that played at Quail Hollow, this week’s PGA tour stop, when the Kemper Event was held there from 1969 through 1979. His answer of Jay Haas, Curtis Strange and Peter Jacobson earned him a foursome to Sundance Golf Club. Rick Fawley correctly answered that Skip Kendall now holds the title of being the richest player to NOT have won a tournament. This title was recently held by Steve Flesch before winning the HP Classic last week at English Turn Golf and Country Club in New Orleans. Rick`s knowledge won him a Bunker to Bunker prize pack which included a foursome to Dove Valley, an Antigua Whisper golf shirt and an Ahead cap.

The team is road tripping to Estrella Mountain Ranch next weekend. Be sure to tune in on ESPN Radio 860 every Saturday morning from 7:00 to 9:00 AM because you never know who might be on the Bunker to Bunker Golf Show, the number one golf show in Arizona.

Bunker to Bunker May 3, 2003

Well, it was back in the studio for DJ, Greg and Tiffany this week. The show almost felt like a family reunion due to Tiffany and DJ being MIA the previous week. DJ gave an update on his weekend "Wastin’ away again in Las Vegas" with Jimmy Buffett. He was amazed that he traveled all that way and ended up partying with a parrothead from Phoenix who went on the Bunker to Bunker party bus to Buffett last year. DJ also mentioned that he was given the "privilege" to play Shadow Creek and was thoroughly impressed....although he did mention that you could play some courses REALLY close to that quality in Phoenix without having to pay the $1,000 green fee! Tiffany told the listeners all about her globe trotting escapades last week. She traveled with her family on her Dad`s "last leg" to London. The family spent 24 hours there and soaked up as much as they could before "jet setting" back to the good ol` USA. While hearing about all of the fun that DJ and Tiffany had on their weeks off, Greg was quick to rub it in that they both missed a GREAT interview with the Golden Bear the week before.

The gang really had some "heated" discussions about ladies playing on the men`s tour (Annika), teenagers playing on the ladies tour (Michelle Wie) and "old codgers" playing on the developmental tour (Nicklaus). During these conversations it was pretty evident that Greg was in favor of whatever Nicklaus does...."Because he has earned it." But, Greg was quick to point out that Michelle Wie, the13 year old child prodigy, had no place on the LPGA tour. Oh, don`t worry Tiffany was quick to point out this double standard while DJ put on his striped shirt and "refereed" the situation.

The “Which Golfer Am I?” question was "What was Hank Kuehne`s average total driving distance last week at the event in Houston?" Dave Hernansky knew the correct answer was 314 yards! Knowing this tidbit of useless knowledge won him an Antigua Whisper golf shirt, a cap from Ahead and a foursome to Estrella Mountain Ranch.

You never know what you might miss, so be sure to listen to Bunker to Bunker, the number one golf show in the valley, Saturday mornings from 7:00-9:00 on ESPN 860 AM.

Bunker to Bunker April 26, 2003

For our listeners who might have attended the Jimmy Buffett concert in Las Vegas with DJ, you missed guest host Tim Conway (not really it was Marty Monaghan) sitting in to keep Greg company in the Studio. We had Russ Curtis, the General Manager from Eagle`s Landing, on the air with us. He was talking with us about the Chick-fil-A hosted by Nancy Lopez event. Se Ri Pak was the winner over Shani Waugh. This event is in its 11th year and is a mainstay on the LPGA Tour.

Kyle Weiner with the Tour Golf Group joined us to tell us about the latest addition to the shoe market. Kyle gave us the inside scoop on the new Callaway golf shoes for both men and women. The shoes will be available in your local golf shops for $100.00 to $150.00 retail. If they are anything like the Callaway golf equipment, you can count on the shoes being top quality.

Jay Morrish, renowned golf course architect, joined us in the second hour to share his thoughts about the new Scottsdale Golf Club (under construction) and how he designs golf courses the old fashion way. He still walks the property and lays the holes out. His staff computer generates all drawings to make his golf courses become reality.

Our "Which Golfer Am I?" winner, Jeff Burke, from Glendale answered the question, “Who was the first golfer to win a PGA Tour event with a non-white color golf ball and in what year and what event?” The answer is, “Wayne Levi, 1982, Hawaiian Open.” Congratulations to Jeff and enjoy the Antigua Golf Shirt, Ahead Golf Cap, and the foursome of golf to Sundance Golf Club.

The Golf Tip of the Week dealt with Lag Putting. Go to Bunkergolf.com to get the scoop on lag putting.

Finally, the grand finale to the show you missed was a call from the Golden Bear, Jack Nicklaus. Jack was in town to lend his support to the Diabetes Foundation. We talked about the importance of having a healthy workout routine, eating healthy and working hard on your golf game to stay competitively strong. Jack shared his thoughts about the set up of Augusta National and commented that the eighteenth hole is too long for the majority of today’s players to hit it long enough to get a straight shot at the green on the second shot.

Make sure to tune in this week as we will have our usual PGA, Champion, Nationwide and LPGA Tour updates and special guests with great insight into the game of golf. The foursome for the “Which Golfer Am I?” prize will be at Estrella Mountain Ranch Golf Club. Also the Bunker Tour starts right there on May 24th, so listen to the show from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. on ESPN Radio 860 for more details.

Bunker to Bunker April 19, 2003

It was back to the studio for the Bunker to Bunker team this week. DJ, Tiffany and Greg recapped The Masters and their insights on Mike Weir`s win. DJ and Tiffany were quick to point out that Greg`s preseason "swami" prediction of Tiger winning his third Masters was painfully off the mark. We suggest that he better keep his day job!

John Creaney, Director of Golf at Las Vegas Country Club, joined the team to give an update on the LPGA`s Takefuji Classic. John stated that course conditions were impeccable but the wind would prove to be a nuisance before the event was over. John also explained that the event was having a Saturday final round (vs. Sunday) due to a sponsor request to accommodate the Japanese viewing public.

John Farrell, Head Professional at Harbour Town Golf Links, gave the show`s listeners some great insight on the MCI Heritage PGA Tour event. He told us that Hal Sutton attributed his surprisingly good play to a tip that he received from Nick Price on the practice tee (maybe Nick should have saved his tip until after the event). John also told us to keep a close eye on Davis Love III. Even though he is not on the leader board, John expects him to make a run at the title.

David Raper, Director of Golf at the ASU Karsten Golf Course, ASU Karston Golf Course told our listeners about he new PING Learning Center at his facility. The facility is home to some of today’s most advanced fitting and instructional technology. Golfers of all skill levels can use this facility to improve their games and equipment alike.

Next week we’ll have more great guests and provide listeners with helpful golf tips, have a give-away or two, report important golf information and always have some laughs. Don’t miss out, tune in Saturday on ESPN 860 AM from 7:00-9:00 A.M.

Greg, DJ and Tiffany

Bunker to Bunker April 12, 2003

It was Masters week and the show was loaded with talent. DJ, Greg and Tiffany did a live remote from the beautiful Anthem Golf and Country Club. Curt Byrum, Golf Channel commentator and a friend of the program, joined the show to discuss his take on why the amateurs were doing so well at Augusta National. Curt also chimed in on Ben Crane`s unexpected victory the week before, but warned us to expect more from this talented Buy.com graduate.

Brian Anderson, self-proclaimed "traffic cop" from the Golf Channel, joined us to further discuss Ben Crane`s victory. Brian also gave Bunker to Bunker ESPN 860 AM radio listeners insight into such Golf Channel gimmicks as the heart monitor and “miked for play.” Brian was kind enough to share a little-known secret about a new device which the Golf Channel will be using this year called the clubhead speed monitor, which is sure to make a lot of us feel very inferior.

Hale Irwin, Champions Tour standout and multiple major winner, was also on the program to give us some GREAT Masters insights. Hale talked about how he expected the course to be affected by the weather. He mentioned how he was surprised about how well the amateurs were playing but did not expect any of them to be near the top at the end of the tournament–and he was right. We also discussed Hale`s Masters highlight of shooting a record-breaking 64 in the final round of the 74 Masters. It almost makes you think that Len Mattiace was listening since he gave that record a heck of a run. All in all it was a great show, we hope you heard it all.
